Round One

Ding, ding, ding.

So, I bit the bullet (love those cliches!) and sent out a story from this year to a few journals (three so far, about to submit to two more). This is an expensive process, so while I was told to submit to 20 journals, I cringe and what that will do to my penny bank (literally, I'm working with pennies here). So, we'll see what happens, and of course I'll make updates on here. Maybe something awesome will happen.

Other news: none.

Still reading, doing some revising, thinking a lot about writing.

There's quite a few journals now accepting online submissions (many accepting ONLY online submissions). When it comes down to pennies then perhaps doing it electronically for free is the way to go.

I believe on Duotrope.com you can even use "online submission" as a search criteria.

After I went and bought a bunch of envelopes and ran off copies on the department machine I was floored to find that most of the places I was submitting to didn't want all the paper I now had in hand! sheesh!

Good luck!

Thanks Eileen! I just did one online submission and that was nice :). I'll look again tomorrow and will check out that website. I've submitted to 5 places--I'll try 5 more. :) Hope you have a great summer!

Yay! Exciting!

Also, with paper submissions, make sure to use those forever stamps for the SASE. You never know when the post office is gonna raise stamp prices and/or when a literary journal will get back to you!

My sister lent me some forever stamps... but I did have to do one at just .42 cents. Good tip to remember though--I'm not too worried about the rates jumping since they just went up at the beginning of this month. :/ Hopefully they won't jump again, but who knows.
